Three arrested for guitar robbery

JAKARTA (JP): The North Jakarta Police have arrested three men for allegedly robbing a container truck carrying 550 electric guitars.

"The three suspects were arrested Tuesday evening at their hiding places in Cilincing," City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna said yesterday.

The three were identified as Alex, Janer and Mahmud, aged between 30 and 40, he said.

Five other suspects were arrested a few days after the robbery last month, Iman said.

The 77 boxes containing the guitars were to be driven to Tanjung Priok port for export. But the truck's driver, Alex, allegedly drove the truck to meet the other suspects. (bsr)
