Thousands of bureaucratic positions to be scrapped
JAKARTA: The government will scrap about 12,400 bureaucratic positions across the country as part of bureaucratic reform under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Ministry spokesman I Nyoman Sumaryadi said the positions that would be eliminated included heads of office and their deputies as well as technical units.
The ultimate aim is to create a leaner and more effective organization, as well as to reduce inefficiencies.
Secretary-general of the Ministry, Siti Nurbaya, said a bulky organizational body would entail a larger portion of the budget being used for officers instead of public services. --Antara
