Thousands join family planning
MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: During the last three months, as many as 14,500 people have agreed to join the family planning programs here, a local official says.
Head of the provincial office for the National Family Planning Coordinating Board Dr. Abu Hanifah told Antara that the number entering the program amounted to 13 percent of the board's target of 81,100 people for the 1995-1996 period.
The new participants chose various contraceptives, ranging from intrauterine devices to birth control pills. There are a total of 402,000 people, or 66.4 percent of the number of couples at the reproductive age, already participating in the program, Hanifah said. (swe)
