Thieves rob house in daylight

BOGOR: Burglars broke into a house and stole valuables worth some Rp 231 million while the owners were out shopping.

Aris Subardi and his wife left the house located on Jl. Dewi Ambika 8 of the Indraprasta housing estate here unattended on Sunday at about noon.

When they returned home at about 7 p.m., the house was in a mess. They said they lost diamond-studded jewelry worth Rp 40 million, gold jewelry, a video camera, two still cameras and Rp 9 million in cash. In total, the couple said they suffered Rp 231 million of losses.

"In the afternoon, my husband and I were looking for a housemaid .., but when we arrived home, I saw the window and the door open and the house was a mess," Mrs. Subardi said. --JP
