Thieves kill a security guard
JAKARTA (JP): A security guard was allegedly stabbed to death by two men yesterday after he refused to cooperate in stealing logs from a warehouse in Sunda Kelapa harbor, North Jakarta.
A police detective at the Sunda Kelapa police subprecinct said that victim Saipul, a resident of Jl. Luar Batang, Penjaringan district, in North Jakarta, was found dead by friends on the harbor beach.
"Police arrested one alleged killer, identified as HJ. But the other is still at large," said the detective, who asked for anonymity.
He said during the preliminary interrogation, the detainee denied killing Saipul, saying that the 23-year-old security guard was stabbed by his brother.
"I just beat him," the detainee said as quoted by the officer.
The detainee said that he and his brother met Saipul at the entrance to the harbor. The three men then went to the warehouse by motorcycle.
But Saipul changed his mind and refused to further accompany the two men. They got angry and allegedly beat up Saipul. The detainee's brother reportedly then stabbed Saipul in the neck, the police said. (jun)
