Thief steals Rp 10m from a restaurant

JAKARTA (JP): Ten million rupiah (US$4,255) in cash was stolen yesterday morning from the Dunkin Donuts restaurant on Jl. Hayam Wuruk in Central Jakarta.

A police officer from the Central Jakarta police precinct confirmed yesterday that the police had received a theft report from one of the restaurant's managers after one of the employees found the company's safety box opened.

"The thief is still at large," said the officer, who requested anonymity.

Police believe that the thief entered the building through the roof early Friday morning. The safety box was located on the third floor.

"The thief seemed familiar with the set-up of the building," the officer said. (jun)
