Thief shot in Indramayu

INDRAMAYU, West Java: The Indramayu District Police have arrested three men on charges of masterminding the theft of motorized vehicles in West Java.

The three identified as Karyani, 35, Tarmudi, 27, and Sarmidi, were arrested on Thursday. The police shot Tarmudi in the leg for trying to resist arrest.

Indramayu Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Eko Hadi Sutejo said on Wednesday his men also seized four motorbikes from the crooks.

Police believe the three suspects belong to a six-member gang who have been involved in sadistic crimes at dusk in the regency's highway, he said.

"We are still hunting the others," Eko added. --JP
