The World is Full of Gods
The number of gods
is increasing everywhere:
in Iraq and Iran
in Israel and Afghanistan
in Lebanon and Nicaragua
in India and Sri Lanka
in Japan and China
in the Philippines and Korea
The number of gods
is increasing everywhere
in America and Russia
in Europe and Asia
in Africa and Australia
among NATO and Warsaw Pact members
at UN and other world bodies
There are gods everywhere, oh my God
There is also pantheism here
and the gods are acting at their will
They are in cities and villages
in mosques and churches
in temples and sanctuaries
monopolizing pulpits and seminars
dominating studios and offices
councils and market places
commanding traffic
organizations and parties
both official and private
Oh God, there is pantheism here and there
my statements are prepared by god
my polices are determined by god
my decisions are made by god
my opinions are formulated by god
my articles are written by god
my decrees are ruled by god
my poems are composed by god
my criticisms are drafted by god
my endeavors are propelled by god
my family belongs to god
my blood flows from god
And I'm god
Oh, my God.

A very important person
is different from others
The dissimilarity
lies in his quality
His talk is all-important
so is his silence
His wisdom is no less significant
just like his chaotic pattern
Everything with him is important
even his trivial substance
If not so,
he is just as unimportant
as other persons

The Sunday Post occasionally prints poems in addition to its regular short stories. The above poems are by an ulema who is an expert on Islamic law.
