The use of seat belts mandatory

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: The use of seat belt will be
mandatory in September this year for private car owners in
Southeast Sulawesi province, while for public transportation
drivers and passengers, they have to begin wearing seat belts in
October.

The decision was made in a meeting between government offices
and agencies in the province, including the transportation
office, public transportation association and provincial police.

Gimang Rappe, the head of land transportation section at the
provincial transportation office, warned that those who violated
the ruling would be charged under the traffic and public
transportation law that carries a maximum sentence of one month
in prison or maximum fine Rp 1 million (US$ 105). In the
meantime, the government will disseminate information pertaining
