The right gown for you

Want to wear an evening gown but scared of making a fashion faux pas? Keep to these tips and you will come off looking elegant and dressed for the occasion.

* The important thing is to determine the type of occasion you will be attending, so you will not overdress but also will not look too low-key. A flowing gown with beads is more appropriate for wedding receptions or charity dinners at major hotels, but would be excessive for a birthday party at someone's residence, for which a straight, beautiful dress will do. * The choice of material plays a decisive role in the impression you make. Go for an evening gown with expensive and luxurious looking faboric. Even a simple gown will look more attractive when it is made of superior material. An elegant impression can be enhanced by wearing the right accesories, such as beads, sequins or lace finishing. * Long dresses can also fit short women as long as the cut is proportional: straight and slender cuts will make you appear taller. * Accessories can easily upgrade simple gowns into luxurious and formal attire; obviously the more genuine the jewellery the more luxurious the impression. * Don't forget to beautify your feet with the correct nail polish when you wear slippers or partly open shoes. * However practical you would like to be, an evening gown needs the crowning glory of hair accessories as well as a specially done hairstyle.
