The most effective law

From Merdeka

As a Moslem youngster, I fully support the concern of Bekasi Islam counselors for the social and political situation. We are all aware of murder, rape, and drugs cases, as they are dished up by the mass media on a daily basis.

Has no one ever given a thought to introducing an effective law that would eliminate such crimes? Take murder, for instance.

We all know that after Philipus slaughtered the Rohadi family, which stunned and angered the whole nation, murders are still being committed, with no end in sight.

I suggest that we should resort to a law originally from our beloved Koran, which is the possession of every Moslem. How about applying the Qisos law in Indonesia? This law says that when someone commits a murder, he or she should die for their sin. Unless he or she is pardoned by the victim's relatives. Do not think of it as a cruel law! I wonder how it would feel if our family gets slaughtered.

I request some attention to my suggestion. I also hope that the respective counselors, who are furthering the struggle of Mohammad, the Holy Prophet, will join me in my suggestion of implementing the Qisos law in our country, which will keep murder figures at a minimum.

God did remind us: "whomsoever does not base the laws on the Koran, he, or she, is a heathen, a despot and atheist." (QS 5:44- 47)
