The communists' sins

From Forum Keadilan

The purpose of the Sept. 30, 1965 coup attempt by the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) was to establish a communist Indonesia and to get rid of Pancasila state ideology. If the coup had been successful, the action would have been promptly followed by the execution of persons belonging to the opposition and religious leaders.

All parties outside the communist party had to be crushed. Those who held different opinions were branded "communisto phobia". They too had to go because they were a threat to the revolution.

Today's generation has forgotten many things. They never knew about the misdeeds of the PKI, especially about the period prior to 1965.

To we members of the 1966 generation movement, we know exactly how PKI successfully eliminated their opponents, the supporters of Pancasila.

If we only could gather clippings of communist papers and their affiliates now, we would have an illustration of how PKI members eliminated their enemies. It is a pity that communist papers from 1960 to 1965 disappeared and, possibly, are no longer kept in our national archives.

The conditions of today could very well be exploited by the Indonesian communist party. By means of penetrating various circles or groups, they may rise again to finalize "the unfinished revolution". It is in this context that the Armed Forces has found it necessary to remind the public of the latent danger of PKI.

It has really become apparent that the greater part of the public has forgotten the evil deeds of PKI. Worse even, today's facts about the communist party have become confused and befuddled, doubts have been sown about their betrayal of the nation.

It is, therefore, justified to always be on the alert for a possible comeback of PKI. They shall never acknowledge the achievement of the New Order administration under President Soeharto.
