Thai jewelry on view at exhibition

Karma Resort, in cooperation with Kit-Ti's jewelry, is holding an exhibition of contemporary jewelry featuring two Thai designers and jewelry producers, Kitti Manoonphol and Ittipol Reekdee.

The exhibition, titled Cultures of the Sea, features jewelry that combines contemporary and folk art designs. The products use various materials, blending gemstones, silver, gold, feathers, glass and metal.

Design of the jewelry is mostly inspired by underwater life, ethnic arts, art-nouveau architectural styles and traditional textile designs.

Manoonphol and Reekde have widely exhibited their art in Europe, including the Netherlands and Belgium. The exhibition, which opened on Sept.8 and runs through Oct. 15, is aimed at raising funds for the benefit of two humanitarian foundations, Kupu-Kupu Foundation and the Bali Children's Project.

The two organizations have been actively supporting the education of the island's poor children, especially those living in remote villages.
