Thai cruiser seized for illegal entry

JAKARTA: The Navy seized a Thai-flag cruiser over the weekend for entering the country's territory illegally on the Anabas islands in Sumatra.

The MV Pantip cruiser is being held at the Tanjung Pinang Navy port, while its 38 crew and passengers are being detained for questioning.

Some of the 38 people were caught diving illegally on Anabas island. Among them were six Indonesians, while the rest were from Thailand, the United States, Singapore, Sweden, Japan and Malaysia, the Navy said in a statement. -- JP
