Test of Megawati's leadership

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) is increasingly in disarray. There is still no indication that the party's leaders will end the internal conflict. An extraordinary meeting of the party's executive board has been proposed for the reorganization of the party.

The internal conflict in the party, which is led by Megawati Soekarnoputri, was sparked by dissatisfaction with the party's internal and political policies.

It is difficult to expect people's representatives to settle the nation's problems. Legislators, who should have control over the government in law enforcement and corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) eradication, have been more focused on studying the political effects of their steps instead of finding justice.

The political obligation to support whatever is done by PDI Perjuangan chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri in her capacity as president has caused the party to compromise, though such a political attitude is contrary to people's demand for strict government measures against KKN, legal violations and human rights violations.

As a very influential party in the legislative body, especially with the position of its chairperson as president of the republic, PDI Perjuangan is in the public spotlight.

To a certain extent what happens in PDI Perjuangan reflects the capability of the party's leaders to settle conflicts as well as their leadership quality. The people are waiting for Megawati Soekarnoputri, as a party leader, to take steps to find a solution to the internal conflict in her party.

It is one of the tests of Megawati's ability to restore confidence that her party has the public's interests at heart.
