Terror suspect blames U.S. for his arrest

JAKARTA: Terror suspect Furqon Abdullah said on Monday the United States played a role in the capture of him and his colleagues in Pakistan last year.

"I saw the involvement of foreigners in my arrest. The police who arrested me in Pakistan were nothing but the accomplices of the Americans," Furqon Abdullah told the court hearing his case.

Reading out his defense at the Central Jakarta District Court, Furqon said the Pakistani police told him that Jakarta had ordered his arrest and deportation.

"My friends and I were the victims of paranoid people," said Furqon. Pakistan deported six Indonesian students in December, and four of them are now standing trial for their alleged involvement in terrorist activities. -- JP
