Terminal land clearance to finish

JAKARTA: East Jakarta Mayor Koesman Halim said on Sunday that the land clearance process for Pulo Gebang bus terminal was expected to be completed later this year.

Construction would begin early next year, he said.

"There are still 1.9 hectares of land that should be cleared. We hope the process will finish this year."

Koesman said the land clearing would not be difficult as most of the land was owned by state-owned property company Perumnas.

The planned 10.9-hectare terminal was expected to accommodate 1,400 buses per day. It is far larger than the existing 3.3- hectare terminal in North Jakarta.

The East Jakarta mayoralty received Rp 13.4 billion (US$1.58 million) from the city budget for land clearance only. -- Antara
