Tenants report intimidation

TANGERANG: Tenants of Amartapura Condominium in Karawaci were surprised by the unexpected guests on Monday and Tuesday.

Several people who tenants claimed were members of the Indonesian Military came to the condominiums on Monday morning.

"They held us all in the meeting hall for the whole day and only let us out at night," said Andreas, the chairman of the Association of Amartapura Condominium Occupants.

On Tuesday, some 30 armed people attempted to get onto the grounds of the condominiums, but were stopped by security guards at the gate.

Andreas suspects the two "visits" are related to a corruption case involving hundreds of millions of rupiah allegedly involving the former association chairman. That case has been submitted to the police.

The majority of tenants are Korean expatriates who work at industrial firms in Tangerang regency and municipality. -- JP
