Tenants lose water dispute
JAKARTA: PT Thames PAM Jaya said it would disconnect Klender apartments in East Jakarta from its water supply on Friday as the tenants' agent, PPRSK, had rung up a bill of Rp 411 million (US$49,939), after refusing to pay for water since August 2000.
Rhamses Simanjuntak, a PAM Jaya spokesman, said in a statement on Thursday that a meeting between the water company, PPRSK and City Council Commission D for development affairs ended without reaching a resolution. The meeting took place on Wednesday.
However, Rhamses said that his company would truck water in at the company's normal rate after the disconnection, taking into account that the tenants had paid the agent for their water.--JP
