Temporary teachers to be promoted
PURWOKERTO, Central Java: The Central Java administration announced on Thursday it would promote some 1,500 part-time teachers in the province to become state employees next year.
Currently, there are 15,000 temporary teachers in the province, who are paid Rp 100,000 (US$11) per month on average, including those who have worked for more than 10 years.
"We can only recruit 10 percent of them due to financial constraints, with those that have taught for more than five years being our priority," Achmad said.
He added that the province would disburse an extra monthly allowance of Rp 50,000 to each of 13,000 temporary teachers. Complying with the amended Constitution, the province plans to allocate 20 percent of its budget for next year to education. --JP
