'Tempo' receives bomb threat

JAKARTA: Activities at the four-story Tempo magazine building at Jl. Proklamasi 72, Central Jakarta, halted for about two hours on Monday as occupants were evacuated after receiving a bomb threat.

An unidentified person called at 12:30 p.m., saying that a bomb planted on the third floor would explode at 3 p.m.

All employees were later told to leave the building at about 1 p.m. The police arrived half an hour later, while the bomb squad arrived at nearly 2 p.m.

Bomb squad officer First Brig. Kustamaji declared at 2:45 p.m. that no bomb was found in the building. -- JP
