Temanggung case goes on

SEMARANG: Following the walk out by dozens of high-ranking Temanggung officials in protest of their regent, Central Java Governor Mardiyanto has sent deputy governor Ali Mufiz on Wednesday to hold a dialog with the officials who have remained.

"Hopefully the deputy governor will also meet Temanggung Regent Totok Ary Prabowo, who is in Jakarta. The regent did ask my permission to go to Jakarta but at that time, I ask him to stay in Temanggung. I didn't even know that he was going to Jakarta for family reasons," Mardiyanto said.

On Tuesday Ali Mufiz and officials who quit had a meeting. Temanggung Regent Totok failed to show up for the meeting.

The governor said he did not know if the regent was planning to meet the President, but he heard that the regent's request to meet Minister of Home Affairs was declined. -- JP
