Telkomnet Instan in Bontang

JAKARTA (JP): State-owned telecommunications firm PT Telkom has extended its Internet access service, TelkomNet Instan, to people in Bontang, East Kalimantan and Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

The two cities are in addition to the existing three cities in Kalimantan that have access to Telkomnet Instan, the head of Telkom's multimedia division, Walden R. Bakara, said on Tuesday.

The other three cities are Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, and Samarinda and Balikpapan, both in East Kalimantan.

"The Internet business in Kalimantan is very promising, but still far less so than in Java," Walden said in the statement.

TelkomNet Instan is currently accessible in more than 140 regional cities across the country, mostly in Java, Bali and Sumatra.

TelkomNet Instan is an Internet dial-up service which charges a fixed rate of Rp 150 a minute without the need to subscribe to the service like other Internet service providers. (tnt)
