Telkom rates

I wrote recently to commend The Jakarta Post on the "vastly
improved" quality of its writing (May 31, 1997), but ironically
you mangled my letter by rewording parts and inserting and
deleting at will.

I look forward some day to commending you on the quality of
your vastly improved editing. In any event, I am writing to
correct the error. You quoted me as having said that my Telkom
rates had increased "an astounding 50 percent to 60 percent",
when in fact my rates were 50 percent to 650 percent higher. A
650 percent increase over five months is indeed astounding.
