Telkom offers better service

JAKARTA (JP): The state-run telecommunications company, PT Telkom, has opened 26 new telecommunications kiosks in South Jakarta, bringing the number in the mayoralty to 201, an official said yesterday.

The chief of the South Jakarta Telkom office, Rizal Saat, said the 201 kiosks had a total of 1,214 phone booths.

Rizal said that to improve its services, Telkom would respond quickly to complaints on malfunctioning equipment, especially in telecommunications kiosks.

The South Jakarta Telkom office aims to market 80,000 new telephone lines this year, 10,293 of which have been sold as of March 1, according to Rizal.

To attract more customers, the company is offering a 50 percent discount on new installations in households, making the price Rp 295,000 (US$29.50), Antara reported.

"Not only that, our employees have been from door to door offering new lines in areas where the network is already set up," he said. (pan)
