Telephone, internet down in Setiabudi

JAKARTA: Unknown persons have cut through optical cables in the Setiabudi district in Kuningan, South Jakarta, causing telephone and Internet lines in offices around the area to be disconnected, Antara reported on Friday.

"They've cut through the main optical cables causing the lines to be disconnected since yesterday (Thursday) night," said Iman, a systems analyst whose office was also affected.

He said that it was unlikely that scavengers had caused the damage as the cables were too big to steal.

Iman said PT Telkom officials had promised to fix the damage within the next three to four days. -- JP
