Telecoms meeting at ITB

JAKARTA (JP): Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism,
Post and Telecommunications Jonathan L. Parapak said here
yesterday that the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) will
host a telecommunications meeting from Sept. 4 to Sept. 6.

The meeting, focusing on "Uniting Mankind through
Telecommunications", will feature two prominent speakers -- Frank
Feather, an expert on business strategy and futurism, and William
H. Davidson, an expert on information technology and corporate
and public policies.

Parapak said that the conference, which is sponsored by
several major domestic and overseas telecommunications firms, is
scheduled to be opened by President Soeharto.

Through the international conference, ITB is expected to
become a center of excellence for the development of information
technology.

"Five hundred participants are expected to attend the event,"
he said, adding that after the meeting, there will be another
international seminar for students focusing on human resources
development at the same site. (icn)
