Teenager arrested for murder, rape

BOGOR (JP): A teenage man was arrested on Tuesday before dawn for the alleged murder and rape of his five-year-old neighbor.

Basir, 18, was arrested at his house in the village of Cibedug, Ciawi district, while he was asleep, according to Bogor deputy police chief, Sr. Comr. Wisnu Sanjaya.

The suspect was believed to have sexually assaulted Nurhayati and then hung her on a tree on Monday.

The incident happened at about 11 a.m. when the boy asked the victim to pick some limus fruit in his backyard. He strangled the girl, raped her and then, using the victim's clothes, hung the body on the limus tree.

Local residents found her body hanging on the tree at about 3:30 p.m. the same day.(21)
