Teenage burned in attempted suicide
JAKARTA (JP): A 16-year-old girl from Tambun district in Bekasi, West Java suffered severe burns during a suicide attempt, city police spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said on Monday.
He said the teenager, Siti Komala, poured kerosene over her body and set herself on fire Sunday morning.
Siti was determined to end her life apparently because she was brokenhearted, he said.
"Relatives said that Siti was very upset after she broke up with her boyfriend, Al."
Aritonang said that Siti's sister, Rosida, heard a noise coming from the backyard of their home and found Siti on fire.
Rosida called other members of her family to help douse the flames and they took Siti to a hospital.
Siti is being treated at Bekasi General Hospital for severe burns to her face, chest and arms, he said. (cst)
