Team to split military, civilian suspects
JAKARTA: The joint team probing the July 27, 1996 attack on
the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) office in Central Jakarta
decided on Wednesday to split the case files of military suspects
and civilians in order to facilitate the investigation.
There will be three separate case files for the military
suspects including former Jakarta military commander Let. Gen.
(ret) Sutiyoso and former National Intelligence Body chief Maj.
Gen. Zacky Anwar Makarim, said National Police chief of
detectives Comr. Gen. Suyitno Landung Sudjono who chairs the
team.
He said all civilians suspects would be tried based on six
case files sent to the team. "This is to make it easier to
collect and present evidence and witnesses in the court," argued
Suyitno. --JP
