Teachers propose Balikpapan mayor

BALIKPAPAN, East Kalimantan: The East Kalimantan Teachers'
Solidarity Forum on the first day of the formal nomination of
candidates for Balikpapan mayor and deputy mayor on Sunday
proposed Rizal Effendi and Jammal Noor for the two positions,
Antara reported.

The head of the Forum, Wahyudi Iriyanto, said here that
teachers had a particular interest in the election as it was
hoped that the city's next mayor and his deputy would have an
interest in the development of human resources.

Rizal is a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle and is a member of the People's Consultative Assembly as
a regional representative, while Jammal is a member of the United
Development Party.(mds)
