Teachers appreciated

JAKARTA (JP): Chairwoman of the Jakarta Family Welfare Guidance Organization Mrs. Surjadi Soedirdja says that teachers willing to work in the Seribu Islands deserve high appreciation.

The teachers have great spirit to teach in the islands, which have poor teaching facilities, the wife of Governor Surjadi Soedirdja said in Jakarta when receiving 250 children studying at elementary and secondary schools in the Seribu Islands.

Soesilo Darmoadji, head of the City Hall Information Office, said in a statement on Sunday that Mrs. Surjadi told the students, who are all fishermen's children, to maintain their zest for studying. "Don't ever lose your spirit to fulfill the religion orders and keep your good health."

The students from Pulau Tidung, Pulau Kelapa, Pulau Panggang and Pulau Untung Jawa were in Jakarta on an outing sponsored by the Education and Culture Provincial Office, City Education Office and the Bureau of Social Guidance. (sur)
