Taxi meter

Last month I was shopping at Hero Kemang, South Jakarta, and asked one of the packing boys to call a taxi for me. Because I was busy in the shoe repair shop, I did not see the taxi arrive but my bags were put inside the car.

The taxi was a very old, run down and dirty car. Halfway to my home I checked the taxi meter and noticed the fare was high and running too fast (already the meter was showing more than I normally spend for the whole trip). I told the driver and his reply was that he wasn't the taxi owner. There had already been seven passengers in the morning and none complained, he said. Finally. I was told that if I did not intend paying the full fare shown on the meter he would leave me halfway home with all my shopping bags.

Nevertheless, he touched the meter and it seemed to work a bit slower.
