Taxi driver stabbed to death

TANGERANG: A driver with the Blue Bird Taxi Group was found
dead near Taman Tekno Bridge in Cadas Mapar, Setu village, Cisauk
district of Tangerang regency on Wednesday morning.

The victim, identified as Sapto Priatmo, 38, died of severe
stab wounds to his neck and chest.

The Pusaka Biru taxi that the victim was driving was found at
about 10:30 p.m. by police on Jl. Arteri in Bumi Serpong Damai on
Tuesday, about an hour drive from where the body was found.

Serpong police chief Adj. Comr. Kostbar said the car keys were
left in the ignition and the driver's seat was covered with
blood.

An employee in charge at the Pusaka Biru taxi pool in Kramat
Jati, Bimo, stated that the driver last reported his position at
about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

"Our monitoring device showed the taxi as being in Bintaro at
the time. The taxi meter was running but the car was not moving.
Several minutes later, the meter was not running but the car was
moving."

Unfortunately, Sapto failed to activate the "black box" which
is used to record his conversations with passengers.

Tangerang police chief Sr. Comr. I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana said
that the victim's shoes and wallet were also gone.--JP
