Taufik, Susanto run out of time

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian Chess Association (Percasi) Master (MP) Taufik Halay and MP Susanto Megaranto both lost to their opponents after running out of time.

Hikaru Nakamura of the U.S. claimed that time was out for Taufik when the Indonesian played his 39th move. But the referees rejected the claim and told him to resume playing.

Tragically, Taufik did not make a move as he did not understand what the referees had said. He just remained still until his clock showed a minus time.

Similarly, MP Susanto Megaranto was beaten over time because he made double notation. Darko Doric of Croatia claimed the time limit. Referees reconstructed the match and found the double notation.

Meanwhile, MP Andrean Susilodinata beat Adrien Boukobza of France using the French defense at the 31st move. Andrean is now in the 6-12 ranks with six other chess players with 4.5 VPs. (nvn)
