Tangerang moves to boost investment

TANGERANG (JP): The one-stop service offered by Tangerang mayoralty to prospective investors has paid off, with an average one new applicant coming in seeking a permit every day since the service was inaugurated in February.

Head of the mayoralty's investment and permit-processing agency Habibah Ardi said on Monday that of the 60 applications received by her office, 22 had been approved and four rejected.

Habibah said the new system simplified the previously long and convoluted procedure for approving an investment and, therefore, provided applicants with certainty in a relatively short space of time.

"We need more investors in a bid to create jobs and increase the city's revenue. In the long run, it will improve the people's welfare," she said.

She added that each application was examined at a consultation meeting, which was held by her office twice a week. (41)
