Tangerang hassled by prostitutes, alcohol

TANGERANG: Responding to complaints from local community leaders and non-governmental organizations of increasing prostitution and the sale of alcoholic drinks, the Tangerang city administration is currently drafting a bylaw on social issues.

"We are accommodating local people's wishes by drafting a bylaw on these problems to be submitted to the city council," Tangerang Mayor H. Wahidin said on Wednesday.

The draft, Wahidin explained, seeks to limit the distribution of alcoholic drinks to hotels only, while prostitutes would be given heavy fines. --Antara
