Tangerang battalion marks anniversary
TANGERANG (JP): The Tangerang-based Arya Kemuning/203 Infantry Battalion distributed 1,500 packages of essential goods to needy residents and Islamic boarding schools here to mark its 44th anniversary on Saturday.
Deputy chief of the battalion, Maj. Wahyu Sugandi, said after attending the company's anniversary ceremony that each of the aid packages contained rice, cooking oil and sugar.
"The recipients included hundreds of Jatiuwung residents and five Islamic boarding schools located in Tigaraksa, Balaraja and Pasar Kemis," Wahyu said.
During the anniversary ceremony on Saturday, Col. Jul Effendi Sjarief, the Commander of the 1st Greater Jakarta Area Infantry Brigade, praised the battalion for it's role in maintaining security in the city.
But Effendi reminded the battalion's personnel not to rest on their laurels and be satiated by the praise.
"If we do that, we'll become reckless and careless. We must remain prepared for challenging and complex missions in the future," he said.
