Taman Mini to host C. Java festival

JAKARTA: The Central Java provincial administration will hold a traditional Tingkeban or Mitoni ritual at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah on Saturday, a park spokesman said on Thursday.

J. Purnawijaya said the ritual was normally held when a woman was seven month's pregnant, and was meant to ensure the safety of the mother and child.

The ritual, which will take place at 7 p.m., is part of the annual Central Java Cultural Enchantment Night, which this year features performances by artists from Surakarta.

Other traditional dances, a traditional food festival and a handicraft bazaar will also highlight the event. -- JP
