Taekwondo team off to S. Korea

JAKARTA (JP): Six taekwondo athletes are to undergo a training stint in South Korea for two months ahead of the 13th Asian Games in December.

Secretary-general of the Indonesian Taekwondo Association Ahmad Zarkasih said yesterday that the organization had picked women's heavyweight Sinta Berliana Heru and light flyweight Yohana Wangsa Putri, men's heavyweight Andri Halim, middleweight Robert, bantamweight Dominggus Boro and light flyweight Satrio Rahardani for the tryout.

They will start their stint with the President Cup championships in Yong-in, scheduled to take place from Aug. 19 to Aug. 22. Athletes from 25 countries will compete in the annual event.

Association training director Fredy Panghe has earmarked Rp 300 million (US$22,560) to finance the Korean outing. (yan)
