Swimmer missing off Yogyakarta
YOGYAKARTA: Rescue workers are still searching for Basuki Rahmad, a domestic tourist from Ngawi, East Java, who was swept out to sea by strong currents near the Parangtritis tourist resort, some 30 kilometers south of Yogyakarta on Sunday.
"We and other rescue workers from Bantul are still searching for the body of Basuki," Adj. Comr. Hadi Prayitno, chief of the detective section of the Bantul Police Precinct, said here on Tuesday.
The incident occurred when the victim along with three friends were dragged off into the sea by strong currents as they were swimming. Basuki's friends were rescued later on Sunday.
Over the last ten months, some 25 tourists have been swept out to sea and five are still missing and presumed dead. --Antara
