Swaziland backs RI's UNSC bid
JAKARTA: Indonesia has won the support of Swaziland, a tiny kingdom in southern Africa, for its bid to be a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in 2006.
President Megawati Soekarnoputri said in a joint press statement with visiting Swaziland King Mswati III here on Wednesday that Indonesia had submitted its candidacy as a member of UNSC in the next term.
"Swaziland has lent its support for us over the candidacy," Megawati said.
In order to be a non-permanent member of UNSC, a country should get support from other countries in the region, which means Indonesia had to garner support from Asian countries.--JP
