Suwardoyo wins pre-Olympic match

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian flyweight Suwardoyo won his fight against Holapatiphone of Laos in the Olympic qualifying round at Tae Jeon City in South Korea on Thursday evening, outpointing his opponent 11-4, Antara news agency reported.

He will face Jumadilov Bulat of Kazakhstan, who defeated Batsuka Boldbat of Mongolia, on Saturday.

Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association secretary-general Didiet Soedijoto said Suwardoyo would have to work harder in his fight against Bulat, the world champion in the lightwelterweight division.

Indonesia's Marwan Muling (lightweight) bowed out to Syed Asghar Ali Syah of Pakistan on points 4-11, while Steve Binalay (light welterweight) was outpointed by Singh Sanjitkar of India 4-9.

National light middleweight boxer Willem Papilaya will face a stern test in his bout with Tongburan Pornchai of Thailand on Saturday. (yan)
