Sutradara Ginting to replace Panigoro

JAKARTA: The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has accepted the recent resignation of Arifin Panigoro from the House of Representatives, and replaced him with Sutradara Ginting.

The decision was made during a closed-door meeting of the party's central executive board, headed by party leader Megawati Soekarnoputri, on Tuesday.

PDI-P deputy secretary Jacobus Mayong Padang said Sutradara, a veteran politician who was previously a member of the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI) and later the Golkar Party, would replace Arifin, a businessman turned politician.

Arifin quit the House to focus his energies on his business. He was one of the candidates who challenged Megawati during the PDI-P leadership congress in March. -- JP
