Sutra Airlines resumes operations

MEDAN, North Sumatra: The North Sumatra provincial administration said on Thursday that provincial airline, Sutra Airlines, would resume operations next year.

North Sumatra governor T. Rizal Nurdin said on Thursday that Sutra Airlines would resume operation with or without its Malaysian partner PT Rabin Global Air Servindo.

Sutra Airlines ceased operations after the Malaysian company stopped leasing its 40-seat Fokker-27 plane to Sutra.

Rizal said it would give the Malaysians the first chance to resolve the leasing problem with the North Sumatra administration.

"We pledge to continue the operation of Sutra Airlines to open access to the west coast of the province," he said. --JP
