JAKARTA: Jakarta Governor is leaving for China and South
Korea on Thursday to learn more about monorail systems there.

City spokesman Catur Laswanto said on Wednesday that
representatives of PT Jakarta Monorail, which has been appointed
to build and operate the country's first monorail, will also join
the five-day tour.

The city administration gave the green light to switch from
Japanese to Chinese or South Korean technology to cut costs. The
Jakarta monorail is expected to begin operation in 2006. --JP
