Sutiyoso unaware of corruption

JAKARTA: Governor Sutiyoso claimed on Wednesday he had not received the report from the City Audit Agency about the alleged corruption and irregularities at his office, which had inflicted Rp 179 billion (US$17.9 million) losses to the city administration.

But he said that he would not hesitate to take action against anyone involved in the offense.

The irregularities, which took place in 12 institutions, were revealed by the audit agency during a hearing with the Commission C for budgetary affairs on Tuesday.

Most of the losses suffered by the city administration, were caused by the city-owned property operator BPL Sunter, who had failed to pay taxes and build public facilities.--JP
