Sutiyoso in KL for SEA Games
JAKARTA (JP): City Hall has been without its most senior member recently as City Governor Sutiyoso has left the city to attend the South East Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for four days.
Sutiyoso, who departed on Wednesday, is in the Malaysian capital in his capacity as chairman of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) and the Indonesian Target Shooting Association (Perbakin). He is scheduled to return on Saturday.
Most of the City Council's 85 councillors and many city officials also left the city on Monday for a four-day meeting at Wisma Jaya in the mountain resort of Puncak, Bogor to discuss the city budget.
While Sutiyoso was still in Kuala Lumpur, city administration spokesman Muhayat, who had been a widower for more than a year, reportedly got married on Friday to a woman, named only as Tuti.
But none of the employees at the city's public relations office knew of the whereabouts of their boss, Muhayat, who had been absent all day on Friday.
Journalists tried to contact him to congratulate him on his marriage but his mobile telephone had been switched off. (jun)
