Sutiyoso asks people to stay put on July 5

JAKARTA: Jakartans should not leave the city for a holiday on Monday and should remember to vote in the presidential election, Governor Sutiyoso said on Saturday.

"I'll be disappointed if I see residents traveling abroad for non-essential purposes instead of casting their votes," he said following a ceremony to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the National Police at City Police Headquarters.

Sutiyoso travel comments came after a report that showed a significant increase in airline ticket sales to foreign destinations.

"Remember, casting one's vote is part of a Jakartan's obligation as a citizen," he said. --JP.
