Suspected thief arrested

JAKARTA (JP): Tambora Police detectives in West Jakarta arrested one of four men in connection with the Monday morning theft of scissors and knives from an open pickup on Jl. Pejagalan Raya in Pekojan, West Jakarta.

West Jakarta police chief Col. Adjie Rustam Ramdja identified the victim as Siantoro, 38. The suspect was identified as Udin.

"Siantoro was riding in the Kijang pickup, registration number B 7971 LS, with driver Acim, 37. The van contained six dozen scissors and four dozen knives, ready to be sold on the streets," Adjie said.

"Suddenly, Siantoro noticed that the van's back door was open and everything was in disarray. Some scissors had also been stolen."

He reported the theft to the West Jakarta Police, who immediately dispatched detectives to the area of Jl. Pejagalan Raya, where police located four suspects. The other three were not apprehended. (ylt)
